RE: 6th Annual Wheaton GO FLY A KITE Kite Festival

Here we go again!! Flying High in Wheaton, IL

On Saturday, May 6, 2017, The Wheaton Park District, The Kite Society of Wisconsin and Gift of Wings are presenting the GO FLY A KITE KITE FESTIVAL ...The event will begin at 10:00 am until 3 pm or 4pm, with the GRAND LAUNCH of 900+ kites at 11:30PM!

The Wheaton Park District, Gift of Wings, and the Kite Society of WI & IL are proud to present the 9th Annual Wheaton "GO FLY A KITE" Kite Festival, as part of the Tour De Kites. This event is planned for Saturday, May 6, 2017 in Graf Park. April 2010, in conjunction with Wheaton’s annual Celebration, Wheaton residents attempted to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most kites flown simultaneously (967 kites). We had over 1,100 notarized registrants that day, and 900 kites took to the air. The families that came out for the event had a great time, so we are ready to “give it another try.” On Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Graf Park in Wheaton at 11:00 pm, the Wheaton Park District and area families will attempt to break last year’s record of 900 kites in the air simultaneously! We plan to sign in at 10:00 am with the Grand Launch taking place at 11:30 pm. We are proud to present for the seventh time, The World renowed Chicago Fire Kite Team flying. (times may vary) The Wheaton eye Clinic Kids Mad Dash and the Candy drop will also takes place during the afternoon. Check this out! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERA7AxNe27s For more information contact Scott Fisher at 414-305-3145 or Kristina Nemetz at 630-510-5064

The Kids Mad Dash and the Candy Drop will take place after the Chicago Fire performs.  Imagine all those kites launching all at the same time.   LOOK OUT!! Free Kite flying lessons will be offered and kites from Gift of Wings are available for sale during the event. I sure would appreciate if you would put our event in your community calendar or maybe do a story on this great tradition.
