RE: 2nd Annual Wheaton GO FLY A KITE Kite Festival

Here we go again!! Flying High in Wheaton, IL

On Saturday, April 17, 2010, The Wheaton Park District, The Kite Society of Wisconsin and Gift of Wings are presenting the GO FLY A KITE KITE FESTIVAL ...The event will begin at 9:00 am with the GRAND LAUNCH of 800+ kites at 10AM!

The Wheaton Park District, Gift of Wings, and the Kite Society of WI & IL are proud to present the 2nd Annual Wheaton "GO FLY A KITE" Kite Festival, as part of the Tour De Kites. This event is planned for Saturday, April 17, 2010 in Graf Park. Last April, in conjunction with Wheaton’s Sesquicentennial Celebration, Wheaton residents attempted to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most kites flown simultaneously (967 kites). We had over 1,100 notarized registrants that day, but unfortunately, the wind was not on our side, and we did not break the record. A certified 800 kites were set aloft that day. The families that came out for the event had a great time, so we are ready to “give it another try.” On Saturday morning, April 17, 2010 at Graf Park in Wheaton at 9:00 a.m., the Wheaton Park District and area families will attempt to break last year’s record of 800 kites in the air simultaneously! WE plan to sign in at 9:00am with the Grand Launch taking place at 10:00am. We are proud to present for the First time, The World renowed Chicago Fire Kite Team flying at 11:00am and 1:00pm. The Kids Mad Dash and the Candy drop will take place from 11:30 am until 1:00pm. The Kids Mad Dash and the Candy Drop will take place after the Chicago Fire performs.  Imagine all those kites launching all at the same time.   LOOK OUT!! Free Kite flying lessons will be offered and kites are available for sale during the event. I sure would appreciate if you would put our event in your community calendar or maybe do a story on this great tradition.
